Celebrating the magic of cinema this weekend, Sony Entertainment Television’s dance reality show India’s Best Dancer 3 will feature a special guest in their ‘Cinema ke 110 Saal, Bemisaal’ special episode. We had earlier reported how Farah Khan would be visiting the show as a special guest judge to add to the ‘shaandar’ celebrations The choreographer, who has been an integral part of Indian cinema over the years, was recently seen recreating the iconic dance number ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ from the Shah Rukh Khan, Manisha Koirala starrer Dil Se (1998) during the show.
Norbu Tamang and Tushar Shetty will be seen performing to a medley of songs as a tribute to Farah Khan, including the legendary song, ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’. After their performance, Geeta Kapur gave a sweet surprise to her mentor, Farah Khan by inviting the original dancers of the song ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ to celebrate 25 years of the iconic song. The rendezvous left Farah Khan overwhelmed who expressed gratitude towards the dancers adding, “I attribute my success to these individuals, I am sitting here because of them. At every step, every song of my career, one of them has come and pushed me to do my best. A choreographer is nothing without their assistants and their dancers. I am truly grateful to them.”
Sources present on the set revealed that the best part of the fun performance was to see Farah Khan dance on stage and performing the iconic hook step of the Sukhwinder song along with her team.
‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ was composed by AR Rahman with lyrics written by Gulzar. The song was originally picturized on Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Arora, with the duo dancing atop a train with several background dancers. The song is a part of the film Dil Se that also marked the debut of Preity Zinta and was directed by Mani Ratnam.
As for India’s Best Dancer 3, the dance reality show airs on Saturday and Sunday at 8 pm on Sony Entertainment Television. In the upcoming weekend episode the contestants, along with their choreographers will be paying tribute to the glorious journey of motion pictures in India, as they will be dancing to the tunes of legendary icons like Raj Kapoor, Kishore Kumar, Shammi Kapoor, R.D. Burman, Amitabh Bachchan, Bollywood’s most iconic jodis like that of Dharmendra – Hema Malini and Rishi Kapoor-Neetu Singh amongst others.
