If you are a Salman Khan fan and enjoy listening to his songs then you have to thank Bollywood’s ace music composers Sajid-Wajid.
The talented brothers have composed and sung for many hit films like Hello Brother, Dabangg, Rowdy Rathore, Ek Tha Tiger, Partner, Wanted and many more.
The duo will soon be seen judging Zee TV’s iconic singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. At the recent press meet, they spoke about the show, music industry, future projects and more.
How proud are you to be a part of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa?
This show has given a platform to many singers who are currently doing well in their careers. Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has proved lucky for each contestant, so it’s my privilege to be judging it.
We all know that your music is foot-tapping, peppy and dhinchak how do you manage to create such kind of music?
It’s not true that we create only dhinchak music. Sajid and I are reserved and creating peppy songs is difficult. We are here to give good music whether it is classical, item numbers or romantic numbers. Jiska demand jyada jo uspe ham kaam karte hai.
The one song that changed your life?
The way mother loves all her kids, the same way all our songs are precious. I have put equal hard work in each song so it would be unfair to name just one song. But Partner songs not only changed our life, but also brought a new trend in Bollywood.
How important is friendship in the industry?
(Wajid) Friendship plays an important role not only in the industry, but also in life. Sajid and I are more like friends than brothers.
How are you as a mentor?
(Wajid) Well, I am chilled out, but Sajid is strict. We share a friendly relationship with the contestants. They are talented and have come to Mumbai, leaving their families away. So that emotional bond is always there.
How do you both divide your work? Do you argue?
Sajid and I are both passionate about our work and we give each other space. We both have different styles of music so according to the film, we decide and divide our work. We do have our share of fights…since Sajid is my elder brother, I listen to him.
Re-creating old classics has become a trend now. Is the industry lacking in inspiration?
It’s a very good move as the current generation should listen to the old melodious songs, but it should be presented well.
Is making a name in the industry easy or tough?
It has become very easy. These days, newcomers get everything. In our time, meeting a music director was a big deal…but now with the help of social media, any one can meet their favorite singers easily.
Which is the most played song on your playlist?
Lag Jaa Gale is always on my play list.
